Dietitians are health professionals trained to advise on all aspects of food, diet and eating behaviours that relate to health, well-being and performance.

 Lucy Upton, R.D, MNutr

Specialist Paediatric Dietitian

Lucyup1Lucy is an experienced member of our Feeding Team. She is an NHS trained and HCPC registered UK Dietitian and Nutritionist.   Lucy graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2010. Since the outset of her career she has gained a wide range of experience within Paediatric settings including; specialist mental health and brain injury units, community paediatric clinics, special schools and currently works full time at Birmingham Children’s Hospital. She has completed multiple professional development learning modules to expand her knowledge with a range of paediatric conditions, and is a fully trained to deliver the SOS Approach to Feeding. She has experience delivering teaching to other health professionals on topics including dietetic management of Autistic Spectrum Conditions.  Lucy is passionate about working alongside a wider team including psychologists, paediatricians, speech & Language Therapists, occupational therapists and schools to achieve the best possible outcomes for children and their families. Lucy is confident with the management of an extensive range of diet and nutrition related conditions for children of any age, with her special areas of interest including:

  • Food allergy
  • Management of ‘problem’ feeding
  • Autistic Spectrum Conditions
  • Enteral feeding including tube weaning
